    [rtl]Baghdad - Iraq today:

The Parliamentary Foreign Relations Committee attributed the delay in choosing ambassadors to a set of obstacles, foremost of which is the non-application of the "Foreign Service" law, as well as the continued sharing and acquisition of embassies between the political blocks.[/rtl]

[rtl]A member of the committee, Muthanna Amin, said in a press interview, “The Foreign Service Law provides for the selection of 75% of ambassadors who worked in the diplomatic corps, and through job promotions within the ministry, in addition to selection 25% of the nominations of political blocs, distributed among the components of Iraqi society.” ".[/rtl]
[rtl]And he explained, “In the last parliamentary session, the ratio of ambassadors to be distributed was changed, and the share of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs decreased by half, while the share of political blocs increased, and diplomatic positions became equal, on the basis that the ministry tests candidates from those blocks.”[/rtl]
[rtl]He pointed out that "the disagreements of the political blocs and the period of the Corona pandemic, in addition to the holding of elections, led to the failure to decide on the selection of ambassadors by the Council of Ministers and sending them to Parliament for a vote.”[/rtl]
[rtl]Amin called for “preparing more than one list, one chosen by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for ambassadors from among its employees who have received promotions, and another chosen by the political blocs, which are ready to be voted on, because the delay of the political blocs in presenting the names of the ambassadors is what caused the delay in resolving this file.” .[/rtl]
