Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir said, on Tuesday, that Egypt is looking forward to advancing intra-trade rates between Cairo and Baghdad, by activating bilateral and multilateral agreements.
Samir said in a speech he delivered during the activities of the Egyptian-Iraqi Business Forum, that "although the volume of trade exchange between the two countries has reached about $500 million, this represents a very small percentage of the volume of foreign trade of the two countries with the world, and there are great and varied opportunities to increase the volume of trade." With regard to joint investments, Samir explained, according to Egyptian media, that "the volume of Egyptian investments in Iraq amounted to about 200 million dollars, while the volume of Iraqi investments in Egypt amounted to about 500 million dollars," stressing that "the two sides can increase the volume of their investments in a way that maximizes Opportunities for cooperation and support the national economy in both countries.
