Oil: Nebras Petrochemical Company provides more than 40 thousand job opportunities

The Ministry of Oil estimates that the Nebras petrochemical project will provide more than 40,000 job opportunities, while Parliament is counting on the Baiji and Karbala refineries to stop the bleeding of money with which the government imports fuel from abroad.
The Ministry stated in a statement that “The Undersecretary for Gas Affairs, Izzat Saber, chaired a meeting at the Ministry’s center for the concerned oil authorities and companies to follow up on administrative and technical procedures and review the global consultant’s report to accelerate the implementation of the Nebras Petrochemical Project.”
The statement quoted Saber as saying, “The meeting discussed the report of the project’s axes, the economic feasibility study, and the requirements for the work implementation stages of the investment project, in a way that achieves the highest financial and economic benefit for Iraq and the parties contributing to it,” pointing to “the necessity of accelerating the implementation of the project, which is considered the most important productive industrial projects.” The strategy".
Ministry of Oil spokesman Assem Jihad said, “The Nebras Petrochemical Project aims to build a giant industry in this field in two stages, the first is preparing the study and designs, and the second is direct implementation. The basic principles of the Nebras project were signed by a Cabinet decision on January 28, 2015.” Pointing to "the project's reliance on exploiting natural gas surpluses to manufacture various petrochemical products, with a production capacity that is planned to approach two million tons annually to form a solid industrial base that supports the plastic and rubber industries and all related industries, in order to strengthen private sector factories and laboratories."
Jihad added, "The project provides more than 40,000 job opportunities and generates significant financial revenues that support the national economy and sustainable development, with the contribution of the Ministries of Oil and Industry, Shell International Petrochemical Company, and other parties to be determined after the final version of the project is approved."
Member of the Parliamentary Oil, Gas and Natural Resources Committee, Ali Al-Mashkour, believes that “the Karbala and Baiji refineries will end the import of many fuel materials if the latter is restarted,” considering that “the materials that the government recovered and were seized from the Baiji refinery will be of no use unless Complete it with the rest of the materials in the refinery.”
Al-Mashkoor continued in an interview with Al-Sabah, “The refinery contains control panels that were recently restored, which contain passwords that can only be operated by specialists with experience in this aspect of the refinery.”
The representative stated that "the rehabilitation operations of the Baiji refinery have entered into force, which means that the work of the Karbala and Baiji refineries together will eliminate many of the imports of fuel types, especially gasoline and gas, from neighboring countries or other countries, which will save a lot of money."
