{Politics: Al-Furat News} Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani met at his residence in New York, yesterday evening, Thursday, with the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim, on the sidelines of his participation in the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
A statement from the Prime Minister's Office, a copy of which was received by {Al-Furat News}, stated that "during the meeting, they discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation and expanding exchanges at various levels and fields, for the benefit of the two friendly countries."
The meeting also witnessed “discussing incidents of insulting the Holy Qur’an, and disgraceful acts that incite the spread of hatred and extremism of this kind, and considering these insults unrelated to freedom of expression and representing a blatant assault on Muslim beliefs that must be confronted.”
The Prime Minister praised "the distinguished Malaysian experience, the performance of Malaysian companies and their reputation in the development sectors, stressing the availability of great opportunities in Iraq in the field of infrastructure construction and strengthening economic partnership in addition to other vital fields."
Al-Sudani stressed, "Iraq's desire to develop communication with friendly countries, especially since the development road project constitutes an effective and available space for investment, calling on Malaysian companies to contribute to the many projects provided by the road."
For his part, the Malaysian Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for Iraq's effective role in the heart of the Islamic world, in addition to the economic importance it represents in the Middle East and the global energy market, extending an invitation to the Sudanese to visit Malaysia, for further discussions and consolidation of bilateral relations between the two friendly countries.
