    The Ministry of Planning announced, on Tuesday, that the strategy for reforming the social protection system aims to achieve four main paths, and while it indicated that there is ministerial cooperation to prepare the initial draft of the strategy, it set the date for its completion.
    Ministry spokesman Abdel-Zahra Al-Hindawi told the official agency, followed by “Al-Ma’louma”, that “the initial draft strategy for reforming the social protection system in Iraq has been being prepared for several months in coordination between the Ministry of Planning and the Ministries of Trade, Labor, Social Affairs, Higher Education, and other relevant parties, and in cooperation with a number of International organizations, including UNICEF, the International Labor Organization, the World Food Programme, and the United Nations Development Programme.
    Al-Hindawi added, “This strategy aims to reform the social protection system in Iraq in all its tracks, whether related to food, represented by the food basket project, or what is related to the Social Security and Retirement Law, or what is related to loans granted to young people from poor families in order to empower them and create profitable projects.” income and other social protection-related pathways in the strategy.”
    He continued, "The strategy also aims to establish clear and precise mechanisms and paths that will address all the problems that plague the protection system in Iraq, and thus the targeting process for those deserving of care will be accurate, fair, and logical," noting that "an important meeting was held between representatives of the Ministry of Planning and a number of international organizations."     Al-Hindawi stated, “Advanced stages have been completed in the framework of preparing this strategy, and therefore several meetings and workshops will be held next October to put the final touches, and then the strategy will be presented to the steering committee for approval, to be submitted to the Council of Ministers for discussion and approval,” expressing his hope that “it will be completed.” The strategy will be at the end of this year or the beginning of next year. Ended 25 n
