{Local: Al-Furat News} Former Basra Provincial Council member, Amin Wahb, sees activating the private sector in Basra as a “solution for the unemployed.”
A useful summary of important news can be found on the Al-Furat News channel on Telegram. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Wahb told Al-Furat News: “Activating the private sector in Basra is a solution for the unemployed, and so far the federal government has not supported the province with a new strategic project.”
He added, "At the reconstruction level, no new projects have arrived in Basra except for what the governor has set. Therefore, I do not see anything added to these projects."
Wahb stated, “Desalination projects are within the jurisdiction of the Prime Minister, and they have not seen the light of day yet, in addition to Basra’s need for roads, bridges, and transport lines.”
He noted "the real remedies are through rehabilitating the stalled factories in Basra and receiving a large number of young people to employ them in these projects."
Wahb stressed "the need for a package of decisions and procedures and opening investment opportunities in Basra," explaining, "The investor needs guarantees, including a safe environment and facilities through activating the investment law."
Regarding the retirement law, Wahb said, “It is general for all Iraqi employees, and Parliament must amend this law, scale salaries, and include them in bonuses on holidays and occasions.”
Wahb concluded by saying, "Activating the Basra Economic Capital Law will end all of the province's problems."
