US Central Command announced on Tuesday the arrival of the US aircraft carrier USS Gerald Ford in the eastern Mediterranean. The command said in a statement, “The arrival of the aircraft carrier is aimed at deterring any party seeking to escalate the situation or expand the circle of this war.”[/size]
[size=45]He explained, “The US Navy forces that arrived include the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78) with 8 squadrons of aircraft for support and attack purposes. and the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Normandy (60 CG), as well as the guided-missile destroyer USS Ramage (61 DDG), USS Carney (64 DDG), and USS Roosevelt (80 DDG).” .[/size]
[size=45]She pointed to “continuing efforts to enhance American capabilities, to ensure the ability to move quickly to the theater of operations by the US Air Force for F-15, F-16 and A-10 fighters, in addition to the fighter squadrons present in the region.”[/size]
[size=45]General Michael “Eric” Kurella, commander of US Central Command, said, “The arrival of these highly capable forces to the region sends a clear message of deterrence not to exploit the current situation by any party hostile to Israel.”[/size]
