    Today, Tuesday (October 24, 2023), the Parliamentary Integrity Committee revealed the reason for the delay in resolving some files related to corruption cases at the Federal Integrity Commission.
    Committee member Hadi Al-Salami told Baghdad Al-Youm, “There are files whose resolution by the Federal Integrity Commission is delayed, as they require investigations, procedures, and judicial approvals, as well as cooperation from some other government institutions. All of these routine procedures are a reason for the... Delaying a lot of files.
    Al-Salami added, "There are corruption files that are clearly defined and do not require lengthy investigative procedures. These files are resolved urgently by the Federal Integrity Commission, and there are procedures against them. There are also files whose resolution is delayed due to the presence of political protection over those files. Here, efforts are hindered." Integrity through the failure of some institutions to cooperate with it, to complete investigative and legal purposes.” 
    The “theft of the century” file is one of the most prominent unresolved files and has been under investigation and resolution at the Integrity Commission for nearly a year, while the money recovered so far has amounted to approximately 400 billion dinars, which is equivalent to only about 10% of the total theft amount, which amounts to more than 3.7 trillion dinars. .
    As of the middle of this year, the funds recovered by the Supreme Anti-Corruption Commission amounted to more than 382 billion dinars, and more than 82 billion dinars were prevented from being wasted. As for the funds that were prevented from being wasted by the Integrity Commission, they amounted to about 920 billion dinars, and the recovered funds amounted to more than 91 billion dinars. One billion dinars, in addition to more than 4,000 recruitment and more than 3,000 arrest warrants, arrest warrants, and red-handed arrests, according to the semi-annual report of the Federal Integrity Commission.
