Al-Sudani also directed "to conduct an investigation against the negligent members of the force holding the area, which the terrorists used in the attack, and to impose penalties against them."

He stressed that "an attack on any foreign mission or diplomatic headquarters is a terrorist crime that exposes the perpetrator to the maximum penalties," noting the government's continued commitment to protecting all diplomatic missions represented in Iraq and their workers, and that it will never relent in confronting outlaws who endanger Iraq's security.
