The Ministry of Planning expressed its readiness to release the results of the social and economic survey soon as part of the poverty alleviation strategy.
The head of the Central Bureau of Statistics, Dr. Dhia Awad Kazem, said that work is continuing to prepare a poverty alleviation strategy, but we are awaiting the results of the social and economic survey in its third phase, indicating that the work continued from 5 to 6 months to reach the results of the first half of this year, indicating It will be launched soon.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani announced in a previous interview that planning surveys indicate a decline in poverty levels as a result of the measures taken by the government in this aspect by including the largest possible number of families living below the poverty line with social protection network subsidies, as well as student scholarships. It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Planning pointed out at the beginning of this year that the poverty rate in Iraq reached 25% of the total population in 2022, indicating that this percentage increased compared to the years 2019 and 2020, when the percentage did not exceed 20%.
