    Economy News - Baghdad
The Parliamentary Transport and Communications Committee expressed its denunciation of the General Company for Communications and Informatics suddenly cutting off internet service in Abu Ghraib district.
The committee stated in a statement received by “Al-Iqtisad News” that it “denounces the General Company for Communications and Informatics suddenly cutting off the Internet service in Abu Ghraib district from all internet companies operating in the district in an attempt to limit the provision of the service to one company in a monopolistic manner and in violation of the applicable laws.”
The statement indicated that “the committee had previously pointed out the serious legal violations and suspicions of corruption and waste of public money committed by the General Company for Communications and Informatics, and they were referred to the integrity judge.”
She stated, “Our committee previously addressed the Prime Minister, pointing out the clear defect and repeated errors in the performance of the Ministry of Communications and the resulting deterioration in the quality of Internet service, which escalated to a complete interruption of this vital service in one of the most important districts of the capital, Baghdad, in an irregular and inappropriate manner with government procedures and without coordination with Media and Communications Authority.

The statement called on “the Prime Minister to intervene urgently to stop this deterioration and direct the operating company to adhere to the law and instructions in force and to coordinate with the Communications and Media Authority to ensure the smooth management of this important and vital sector.”
