The Parliamentary Communications Committee announced, on Wednesday, the continuation of parliamentary discussions regarding the fourth license for communication companies.
Committee member Zahra Al-Bajari said, in a statement followed by “The Insider”, that “the government program stressed the need for the fourth license to be a national license, and this is what the Ministry of Communications is currently working on,” noting that “the project was referred to a specialized international company for the purpose of preparing a comprehensive study.” around it.”
She added, "The fourth license needs new infrastructure," stressing "the need for the Ministry of Communications and the Media and Communications Authority to follow up on the work of the existing companies."
A member of the Parliamentary Communications and Transportation Committee confirmed, "There is parliamentary dissatisfaction with the services provided by the current communication companies," noting that "the companies provide very poor services that are not commensurate with the amount of money spent by citizens for these services."
She pointed out that "Asia Cell and Zain Iraq have paid all the debts they owed until 2022, and as for the Koruk case, it has not yet been judicially resolved."
The amount of debt owed by Korek is estimated at $400 million.
