The Integrity Commission announced, on Tuesday, the arrest of a person who deceived citizens by appointing them to state institutions as a temporary contract in exchange for sums of money.
The authority said in a statement seen by Al-Iqtisad News, “The staff of the Baghdad Investigation Directorate caught one of the accused red-handed in committing the crime of bribery in exchange for a false promise to appoint a citizen as a contract person in one of the ministries.”
She explained that "the process was carried out pursuant to a judicial memorandum issued by the judge of the Second Karkh Investigation Court, where a work team was formed after receiving information contained in a citizen's complaint that included the complainant requesting a sum of money from the complainant in exchange for a promise to appoint him as a contract position in the Ministry of Education."
She added, "The work team took the initiative to move to one of the neighborhoods in the center of the capital, Baghdad, and set up an elaborate ambush for the accused, where he was caught red-handed receiving $2,000, which is the amount agreed upon between the accused, in exchange for the promise to appoint the complainant."
The authority noted that "a formal seizure report was prepared during the operation to be presented with the accused and the seized exhibits to the judge of the Second Karkh Investigation Court, for the purpose of confirming his statements and determining his fate."
