Nineveh compensation: Security checks delay the disbursement of amounts

The Compensation Subcommittee in Nineveh attributed the exacerbation of the problem of delayed completion of compensation transactions for those affected by military operations to the problem of security auditing in Baghdad, stressing that next year will witness the completion of this file.
The director of the committee, Muhammad Mahmoud Okla, said in a statement to “Al-Sabah”: Some of the complications and routine came based on orders from Baghdad, and others were caused by some citizens who made incorrect claims about being harmed by military operations.
He stated that the First Compensation Subcommittee in Nineveh announced the end of the delivery of compensation amounts for transactions completed during the years 2018 and 2019, indicating that transactions for the years 2020 and 2021 are currently being compensated.
In the same context, Okla pointed out that the problem of financial allocation has ended since the year 2022, stressing that the compensation file will end in the year 2025, if the amounts are continued to be allocated in this way.
The Nineveh Compensation Directorate had announced in the middle of last year that the file and disbursement of compensation would be completed completely at the end of 2023, bringing the total compensation spent to approximately 600 million dollars, while United Nations organizations estimated the amounts required for the reconstruction of Nineveh homes at 15 billion dollars.
