    Today, Thursday (January 25, 2024), Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani called for intensifying international pressure to prevent the spread of conflict in the region, reiterating the position regarding the mission of the international coalition to fight ISIS in Iraq.
    The Prime Minister's Office said in a statement received by "Baghdad Today", that "Al-Sudani received, this morning, Thursday morning, Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albarez and his accompanying delegation," noting that "Al-Sudani expressed, during the meeting, the importance of Iraqi-Spanish relations, and the endeavor to strengthen them at all times."      Al-Sudani pointed out, according to the statement, “the exchange of successful visits between officials in the two countries, the most recent of which was the visit of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez to Baghdad last month,” stressing “Iraq’s desire to attract Spanish companies to contribute to development projects and strategic structures in Iraq, most notably the Al-Faw port projects.” Al-Kabeer, the Industrial City, and the Development Road, according to the experience and reputation these companies enjoy in performance and implementation.”
    The Prime Minister reiterated "Iraq's position regarding the mission of the international coalition to fight ISIS in Iraq," stressing that "the terrorist organization no longer poses a threat to the Iraqi state, and that our armed forces are capable of fully undertaking the tasks of maintaining security and stability and repelling threats, and that the time has come." To move to bilateral relations with all coalition countries.”
    Al-Sudani appreciated “Spain’s position on the aggression in Gaza,” calling for “intensifying international pressure to prevent the spread of the conflict, and speeding up the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people.”
    For his part, Minister Albarez conveyed the greetings of the Spanish Prime Minister to the Sudanese, stressing “his government’s desire to develop relations, strengthen the work of the joint Iraqi-Spanish committee, and look forward to the launch of the fourth round of bilateral dialogue between the two countries,” according to the statement.
    The Spanish Foreign Minister also referred to “the work of the Spanish advisors in Iraq within the international coalition,” stressing “his government’s support for any decision taken by Iraq in this regard, and that Iraq is an essential partner for his country, and the quest continues to find more partnership opportunities,” explaining that “his country is making efforts For the sake of a ceasefire in Gaza, lifting the siege on the population, and calling for a comprehensive peace conference to establish a Palestinian state.”
