    Baghdad today - Baghdad
In the face of missile attacks and bomb marches, the Kurdistan Regional Government finds itself “incapable of movement” and is forced to wait for Baghdad’s measures. However, the recurrence of the attacks, the most recent of which is targeting the Khor Mor gas field, makes Erbil “desperate” for Baghdad, until the recent statement of the head of the regional government included “seeking help from friendly countries.” ".
This matter prompted the question of the extent of the seriousness of this feeling that began to increase in the “earth of the region,” especially with the despair that Baghdad would do anything to protect the region, but Baghdad itself was unable to protect the other cities or its military forces that are still receiving American strikes without anything being done. Baghdad in light of the nature of the post-2003 regime, which seeks balance and non-escalation.
In this regard, veteran Kurdish politician Mahmoud Othman warns against the region resorting to other countries and dispensing with Baghdad.
Othman said today, Saturday (January 27, 2024), in an interview with “Baghdad Today” that “politicians and parties in the Kurdistan region must realize that Baghdad is the strategic depth of the region,” indicating that “as long as the region is part of Iraq, the Kurdish parties must realize that Correcting the course and resolving all differences between the two parties through dialogue, and any foreign country will not serve the Kurds, and an understanding with Baghdad is the solution to Kurdistan’s problems.”
The Kurdish parties (the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and the Kurdistan Democratic Party) are accused of leaning relations towards a particular country. The Patriotic Union in Sulaymaniyah is with Iran, and the Kurdistan Democratic Party is with Turkey, according to analysts and political reports.
With the Kurdistan region and Erbil in particular being subjected to strikes, missiles and drones, including cross-border missiles such as those launched by Iran towards the home of a businessman, the regional government believes that it is “forced” to be drawn into Iraqi politics in Baghdad, which was known for not escalating and accepting violations of sovereignty from various countries, most notably America, Iran and Turkey.
These violations and the inability of the region to take any action, caused “hot” statements and positions to come out from the Kurdistan Government, the most recent of which was the statement of the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, yesterday, Friday, after targeting the Khor Mor gas field, which he described as “attempts carried out by enemies and traitors with the aim of undermining The entity of the region," pointing out that the region possesses "a solid will that will not break in the face of conspiracies and injustice, and will inflict disappointments of defeat, defeat, and shame on enemies and traitors."
Barzani's statement included urging "friendly countries to take serious measures and field cooperation to ensure the security of our people and protect economic and political stability in the Kurdistan region," in a clear indication of Erbil's "desperation" for Baghdad to take any serious measures regarding these attacks.
