    [size=45]Yesterday, the Iraqi Ministry of Interior decided to allow every residential home to obtain a weapon provided that its owners register it according to the announced electronic system, noting that the deadline granted for registration ends at the end of December 2024, after which those who are not registered will be subject to legal penalties.[/size]
    [size=45]Ministry spokesman Brigadier General Miqdad Miri said in a press conference held in the Ministry of Interior building that every citizen or family in an independent home can obtain a light weapon, a pistol or a rifle, through the Ur Gate website in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers.[/size]
    [size=45]He added that there were supposed to be fees for registration, but the Ministry of Interior waived its right to do so, noting that the registration process will continue until December 31 of this year.[/size]
    [size=45]Brigadier General Merry stressed that if anyone does not submit to these procedures, he will be subject to legal accountability.[/size]
    [size=45]The Interior Ministry spokesman went on to say that there were shops licensed to sell weapons, but there were no such shops, stressing that the Ministry of Interior had closed all shops licensed to sell weapons, and that the Ministry no longer granted any license to such shops.[/size]
    [size=45]On Saturday, January 27, Iraqi Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari announced the launch of the electronic form to register citizens’ weapons.[/size]
    [size=45]Al-Shammari said, “The national policy for regulating weapons has been approved and restricted to the state, from which emerged the Permanent Committee for Arms Regulation in the Ministry of Interior. He announced the launch of the electronic form to register citizens’ weapons through the Ur Gate website in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, and it will be in three stages.” And the establishment of 697 weapons registration offices in local police stations in all governorates, cities, villages and districts of Iraq, except for the Kurdistan region.[/size]
