    The head of the Ishraqa Canon parliamentary bloc, MP Haider Al-Mutairi, confirmed today, Friday (February 2, 2024), the existence of foreign interference in the legislative affairs of Iraq, specifically with regard to the “anti-prostitution” law, which Parliament is working on legislating.
    Al-Mutairi said in a brief statement, received by “Baghdad Today”, that “yesterday, Thursday, the House of Representatives witnessed the intervention of some foreign organizations in a project to combat prostitution, homosexuality and homosexuality.”
    He added: "We affirm our rejection of any foreign interference in the affairs of the saturation." 
    Yesterday, Thursday, the House of Representatives concluded reading the report and discussion of the proposed First Amendment Law to the Anti-Prostitution Law No. (8) of 1988, submitted by the Legal Committee, according to the House’s media department.
    According to the department, the representatives’ interventions focused on demanding the necessity of legislating to amend the anti-prostitution law in a way that is consistent with the nature of the social values ​​of the Iraqi people and to address the cases covered by the Iraqi Penal Code, and demanding its legislation in order to criminalize every act that promotes, supports, or supports the promotion of homosexuality, in addition to demanding that the law include Recommending the closure of any organization or institution that promotes the culture of homosexuality and homosexuality, and demanding that the definition of prostitution be amended by adding the term homosexuality and gender to the provisions of the law, prohibiting the use of the label “gender” in state institutions and civil society organizations, and criminalizing imitation of the opposite sex, whether by clothing or appearance. Or taking hormones that are contrary to human nature, in addition to a parliamentary demand to control social networking sites that promote ideas of homosexuality, and calling for the adoption of jurisprudential and Sharia opinion in determining the type of penalties covered by the law and the importance of legislating to amend the law away from external pressures, while submitting an official protest to the diplomatic missions that She demanded that his legislation not proceed.
    Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, stressed during the session that the House of Representatives represents the will of the people in enacting its legislation and is not subject to external influences, pointing out that the House is proceeding with legislation proposed to amend the Anti-Prostitution Law No. (8) of 1988.
