    The Iraqi state’s salary bill rose during the past five years by an additional 7 trillion dinars, reaching 47 trillion Iraqi dinars after it was in 2019 at a value of only 40 trillion Iraqi dinars, according to a new economic statistic.

    According to the statistics published by the head of the Future Iraq Foundation for Economic Research and Consultation, Manar Al-Obaidi, and viewed by Al-Sumaria News, the Ministry of Interior and Defense, the Council of Ministers, and the bodies associated with them occupied 50% of the total salaries, bringing the total salaries of the three agencies to 25 trillion dinars, an increase of 6 trillion dinars from 2019. A dinar, as its value at the time was only 19 trillion Iraqi dinars.



    The ministries with the highest increase in salaries were the Ministry of Education, whose salaries rose to reach 10 trillion Iraqi dinars, then the Ministry of Health and Environment, whose salaries rose to reach 5.3 trillion Iraqi dinars in 2023, according to statistics that revealed an increase in the salaries of the House of Representatives by 16%, bringing the total salaries of the House of Representatives to 474. One billion Iraqi dinars, compared to 408 billion Iraqi dinars in 2019.

    According to statistics, the salaries of the Presidency of the Republic increased from 34 billion Iraqi dinars in 2019 to reach 43 billion Iraqi dinars in 2023. As for the ministries that witnessed a decrease in their salaries, they are the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Communications, and the Ministry of Oil.

    The salaries of the governorates also witnessed a decrease in their salaries as a result of the transfer of the affiliation of some entities that were linked to the governorate administration to ministries in the central government, noting that the salary table below does not include self-financing departments that are affiliated with some ministries.
