    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
Today, Saturday (March 2, 2024), Independent Representative Amir Al-Maamouri revealed the main reason that prevents the enactment of important laws in the House of Representatives.
Al-Mamouri told "Baghdad Today", "There are important laws that have been suspended for a long time, in addition to some laws that have been postponed since previous parliamentary sessions due to political differences and lack of agreement on them."
He added, "The differences between the influential political blocs within Parliament are what hinder the legislation of many laws," noting that "there are laws that the government has withdrawn and has not yet re-sent for the purpose of legislating them, despite all official communications to expedite their sending."
Parliamentary sources had revealed that the Council of Ministers withdrew a very important group of laws during the 302nd session on 11/15/2022, noting that “the laws that the current government withdrew are approximately 450 laws for the purpose of amending them, but the government did not return them to the Council.”
She points out that "among the important laws that were withdrawn is a law related to employees, amending the salary scale, and the Federal Civil Service Law."
The sources pointed out that “there are other projects that were withdrawn by the Presidency of the Republic, including the draft legal profession law, the first amendment to the Supreme Criminal Court law, the Ministry of Electricity law, the General Secretariat of the Prime Minister, the draft federal service law, the second amendment to the public roads law, and the reconstruction law.” And the first amendment to the National Oil Company Law, the Martyrs Foundation Law, the Flag Law, and the Services Law in State Departments.”
