Launching the second phase of the unified card project

The Ministry of Interior launched the second phase of the national unified card project, including six important strategic objectives that support the goals for which the project was launched more than ten years ago.
Interior Minister Abdul Amir al-Shammari told “Al-Sabah”, on the sidelines of the conference held yesterday, Saturday, in Baghdad, which “Al-Sabah” attended: The rules for the unified card project were prepared through an extensive study since 2012, through specialized technical committees, and choosing the best, to develop executive plans. He reached the stage of signing his contract in 2013, adding that the year 2015 witnessed the launch of the unified card, indicating that more than 36 million citizens have been registered on the national card so far.
He pointed to a number of major challenges facing the launch of the project, the most important of which is restoring the infrastructure in Nineveh and some governorates, which directly caused the delay in the opening, indicating that there are 328 departments in the governorates that operate with 43,412 civil status records. This comes within the first phase of the project, which exceeded the number of There are 36 million and 751 thousand citizens registered.
Al-Shammari stated that the Ministry will stop dealing with paper documents represented by the civil status identity and the Iraqi nationality certificate, starting tomorrow, the first of April, while the unified card departments will continue to register citizens in the unified card system.
He added that, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Iraqi embassies, the central system will be activated, which will have an effective impact in verifying the authenticity of information and data, and linking it between the main data center of the Ministry of Interior and the rest of the ministries, noting that it will achieve a new methodology in the speed of giving information and the extent of its credibility and through the latest means. The technology adopted in this aspect.
For his part, the Ministry’s official spokesman, Brigadier General Miqdad Miri, stated in a statement to “Al-Sabah” that the Interior Ministry, following the important achievement achieved by the first phase of the national unified card project, launched the second phase, which will end the handling of documents and improve the level of services provided to citizens, including the establishment of a central station for verifying identity documents. Citizens’ information between the ministry’s data center and other ministries, in addition to providing government connectivity between them, similar to the Ministry of Planning and the High Elections Commission, as well as the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and other parties, pointing out that in the second stage, paper exchange between departments will be reduced in order to ensure the reliability and security of information and provide verification. It ensures the accuracy of the information and eliminates the need for authenticity of publications.
He explained that the other goal included opening the unified card system in a number of embassies to register the Iraqi community, register life cases, provide copies of electronic records, and simplify granting the card to communities without coming to the country, by sending the national card to the embassy to deliver it to citizens and relieving the citizen of the burden of travel in a way that ensures Obtaining the electronic passport there, adding that the third goal includes opening central registration sites in the governorates, providing citizens’ registration services, and registering the reality of their lives at the registration site closest to the citizen’s residence, far from his family circle, and providing access to the damaged or lost national card, as well as reducing the hassle of moving. The citizen is sent to his registration department by handing him the citizen card from the same civil registration department.
The official spokesman for the Ministry continued that the registration service will be provided at the mobile station for citizens whose attendance is difficult in exchange for sovereign fees and according to the assessment of the situation, which will be in care homes, camps and remote areas, revealing that the Ministry will establish 300 mobile stations to cover all the needs of citizens outside and inside the country, stressing that The most important objectives of the second phase are linking the main departments of citizens’ housing information centers to the unified card system.
