Securing development paths in Karbala

The local government of Karbala announced that it would secure and end all conflicts regarding the two paths of the land and railway development road, which pass through the governorate.
Last May, the government announced the Development Road Project with the participation of Arab transport ministers from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, and Oman, as well as Iran and Turkey, with a budget of up to 17 billion dollars. It will be completed in three phases, the first ending in 2028, while the second will be completed in 2033. The work of the third of them will be completed in the year 2050. Governor Nassif Jassim Al-Khattabi said in a statement to “Al-Sabah” that, within government directives to stimulate the tourism, economic and investment movement throughout the country, especially Holy Karbala, the local government held several meetings with the departments concerned with the international development road project, to secure the part Passing through the city and providing all the necessary facilities for speedy completion.
In the same context, he stressed the need to secure and remove all conflicts regarding the route of the project, which will have two paths, the first consisting of an international express line with a distance of 260 km, and the second includes a prohibited railway line with a length of 100 km, and they meet in the north of the governorate, and then they run parallel to each other, reaching the north.

Al-Khattabi considered Holy Karbala an essential part of the government program for implementing important strategic projects, such as the development project that extends from the south of the country to the north and then to Europe, and it is one of the major projects that will have a major impact on the economy, noting that one of the project’s priorities is determining paths and it is the province’s prerogative. Pointing out that there is effective coordination with the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Transport to complete all procedures related to securing the project’s route.
The Minister of Transport, Abdul Razzaq Muhaibes, had previously confirmed that the development road project, which is 1,200 km long in the country, consists of three main axes: Al-Faw Port, railways and highways, and 85 percent of the main port has been completed, and 55 percent of the port has been completed. Railways, while highways reached 35 percent.
