    Professor of International Economics, Nawar Al-Saadi, commented today, Sunday (April 14, 2024), on the possibility of Iraq being affected economically by the Iranian bombing of Israel, especially the dollar issue.
    Al-Saadi said in an interview with “Baghdad Today” that, “Until now, I do not think that the Iranian bombing that occurred yesterday will economically affect the situation of Iraq and the price of the dollar, because the Central Bank of Iraq is committed to implementing the conditions of the Federal Bank and the US Treasury, which relate to the procedures of the Filter platform.” And control of financial transfers in US dollars.
    Al-Saadi added, “The matter remains dangerous if a package of economic sanctions is issued on Iraqi financial institutions or individuals who own banks in Iraq, as this may lead to a state of panic that negatively affects exchange rates in the Iraqi market, as a result of people’s fears and their greater adherence to the dollar.” Which increases demand and leads to higher prices. However, Iraq is so far far from this scenario.”
    He continued, "On the other hand, the rise in the price of the US dollar against the Iranian toman could affect the rise in the prices of Iranian goods in Iraq, as a result of the extensive trade exchange between the two countries, especially since the US dollar broke the barrier of 67 thousand tomans for the first time in the history of the Iranian currency, and that In light of fears of a war breaking out between Iran and Israel, Iraq may therefore witness an increase in the prices of consumer goods imported from Iran.”
    The professor of international economics stressed that “the positive thing for the Iraqi economy is the rise in oil prices, as the price of Brent crude oil reached $91 per barrel, which will inevitably enhance Iraq’s foreign revenues and thus contribute to strengthening the country’s economy.”
    Earlier today, Sunday, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced the implementation of a large military operation inside the occupied territories with dozens of marches and missiles . 
    The Revolutionary Guard said in a statement followed by “Baghdad Today”: “The honorable people of Islamic Iran, who love martyrs, in response to the many crimes of the evil Zionist regime, including the attack on the consular section of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Damascus and the killing of Iranian military leaders and advisors, the men of the Air Force carried out- Al-Bawasil TV, with the support of other forces, and within the framework of punishing the criminal Zionist regime during Operation (His Promise is True) with the sacred symbol “O Messenger of God (PBUH),” a massive military operation against targets inside the occupied territories with dozens of missiles and drones .” 
    He added, "The details of this operation, which was carried out with the approval of the Supreme National Security Council and under the supervision of the General Staff of the Armed Forces and with the support of the men of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the support of the Ministry of Defense and the support of the Armed Forces, will soon draw the attention of the heroic Iranian people and the free peoples of the world."
