Shafaq News/ According to official statistical data monitored by the Jordanian News Agency (Petra), the volume of trade exchange between Jordan and Iraq increased last year to 832 million dinars, compared to 772 million in 2022.
The official Jordanian agency said that the Kingdom's trade balance with Iraq last year achieved a surplus of 442 million dinars, as the value of the Kingdom's exports to Iraq reached 637 million, and its imports amounted to 195 million.
Economic opportunities vary between Jordan and Iraq in several fields, including trade, investment, energy, industry, and tourism, and experts confirm that the continuation of these relations to develop in the future will contribute to enhancing economic development in the two countries and providing new job opportunities.
The head of the Iraqi Business Council in Amman, Majid Al-Saadi, confirmed the depth of Iraqi-Jordanian economic relations, despite the circumstances and challenges they have experienced during the past years, and that Jordan and Iraq have for years put forward the term “economic integration” between them, which indicates the strength of their partnership.
He pointed out that the Iraqi market witnessed dynamic changes after 2003, as it opened its doors to everyone, and many products from many countries entered it, so that the Jordanian product at that time became a strong competitor to these products in terms of price and quality.
In turn, the representative of the therapeutic industries and medical supplies sector in the Jordan Chamber of Industry, Fadi Al-Atrash, said that Iraq is considered an important economic depth for Jordan, and we seek to build complementary, not competitive, relations with it that achieve common interests, stressing that the visit of the President of the Republic of Iraq, Dr. Abdul Latif Rashid, to the Kingdom is in this direction. .
He pointed out that there are many agreements signed between the two countries that would support the establishment of an integrated industry between them for the common benefit.
