    It has been 18 days since Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein was absent from government activities after the death of his wife. He even missed the most important events that Iraq witnessed during the past days, amid questions about the validity of the minister of the most important sovereign ministry failing to perform his duties at a time when Iraq is working on many tasks. From foreign economic and security files and the possibility of escalating regional security tension again.
    On April 7, 2024, the wife of Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein died, and since then he has disappeared from performing any government duties despite the escalation of regional and global events, and Iraq’s foreign activities as well.
    Information leaked about Hussein's cancer and his intention to submit his resignation, but he himself denied this to a Kurdish media outlet, stressing that he is in good health and will return to his work duties soon.
    For personal reasons, Hussein disappeared from the most important foreign and diplomatic events that Iraq witnessed, which was the Sudanese visit to the United States of America, as well as the visit of Turkish President Erdogan to Iraq, despite the fact that these two events are major and unprecedented, in addition to the escalation of security tensions in the region, and in Iraq, and the exchange of missiles. And the unknown explosion that affected a Popular Mobilization Forces camp in Babylon a few days ago.
    Observers wondered about the validity and inappropriateness of Hussein’s absence from performing his national duties in this circumstance, recalling Oil Minister Hayan Abdul Ghani, who began his ministerial and governmental duties 8 days after mourning the death of his daughter and sister at the same time, specifically on August 31, and chaired the meeting of the Opinion Committee at the Ministry of Oil.
