    Baghdad today - Basra
Today, Monday (May 13, 2024), member of the Basra Provincial Council, Iyad Al-Maliki, revealed the formation of a committee within the Provincial Council to evaluate the heads of administrative units, while stating that after the committee’s evaluation of the head of the unit, the council will decide whether or not to dismiss the negligent one.
Al-Maliki said in an interview with "Baghdad Today", "The Council will reward the heads of administrative units who came to their regions, even if there is discontent with them, but we want to do justice to the person who works from the person who failed to manage the administrative unit," stressing that "the Council is in accordance with the evaluation The committee (district director or district director) will decide whether or not to dismiss the negligent person.”
Al-Maliki continued, "The Qurna district has a number of competent figures who can manage the district attorney's office," noting that "the matter will be resolved soon so that we can quickly move forward with the integrated Qurna project to serve the citizens."
On March 30, Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani, during his reception of a delegation of tribal sheikhs and notables from the Qurna District in Basra Governorate, directed “to replace the company lagging behind in implementing service infrastructure projects in the Qurna District with another solid company.”
It is noteworthy that last March, the Qurna district in Basra Governorate witnessed massive demonstrations, the erection of sit-in tents, and the closing of the gate to the first Qurna field to demand services. It also witnessed the death of two 9-year-old children who drowned in a water hole belonging to the Qurna sewerage project, in the Al-Jumaa neighborhood.
The accident occurred when one of the two children fell into the hole that was filled with water as a result of a broken pipe adjacent to the liquefaction water supply, so the second child tried to save his friend, but they both ended up drowning.
