The Interior Ministry completes cleansing the areas of organized crime gangs

, late Saturday night - Sunday, Interior Ministry forces completed operations to clear the areas of organized crime gangs, outlaws, and violators of residency requirements.
The first of these operations was carried out on the Al-Karkh side of Baghdad, and included four areas: Jakouk, Al-Tawail, Al-Taji, and Al-Ashwaiyat, and resulted in the arrest of 119 defendants according to various legal articles, including 49 violators of residency and nationality conditions, and the seizure of weapons, ammunition, and other materials on the Al-Karkh side. Baghdad operations noted “Search and inspection operations are continuing in other areas on the Karkh and Rusafa sides as part of the plans drawn up to enhance security and stability and with the aim of pursuing organized crime gangs and outlaws, implementing judicial arrest warrants and protecting societal peace and the security and safety of citizens.” On the Rusafa side, the First Brigade was able to arrest 16 people. Accused, including 14 foreigners who violated the Iraqi residency law in the areas of Al-Shaab, Al-Basateen District, and Seven Qasour. Meanwhile, the Babylon Police Command detachments carried out a qualitative operation in cooperation with the Kurdistan region, which consisted of arresting the killer of lawyer Ammar Hatem, transferring him from Erbil to Babylon, and handing him over to the competent authorities. In Basra, the governorate police arrested a woman for stealing 22 million dinars from a residential home in Rabat, and another accused of stealing a motorcycle at gunpoint.
