The Minister of Transport, Razzaq Muhaibas Al-Saadawi, announced, on Thursday, the opening of Baghdad International Airport to all citizens, at the end of next June.
The Minister of Transport said, in a statement, “At the end of next June, Baghdad International Airport will be opened to all citizens within the framework of the ministry’s plan to facilitate travel procedures and provide the best services to travelers.”
Al-Saadawi added, “The security situation in Baghdad is witnessing complete stability, and therefore many of the routine security measures are no longer justified,” pointing out that “the first stage of the procedures for allowing citizens to enter Baghdad International Airport was limited to the entry of departures on their own wheels into the airport.” And travel. The second stage will be for departures and those who want to receive a traveler at Baghdad International Airport.”
He continued, “The Ministry is keen to overcome any obstacles that hinder the provision of service to the citizen at the airport or any department or formation affiliated with the Ministry,” indicating that “the aviation sector receives great attention from the government.”
He added, “Baghdad Airport represents an important interface for Iraq, so its rehabilitation and expansion project has been placed among the priorities of the projects that we are waiting to start, after the International Finance Corporation has completed the investment portfolio for the airport, to present it to the relevant international companies.”
