A split hits the Al-Halbousi party bloc and the announcement of a new political bloc in Iraq

11 representatives in the Iraqi parliament and members of the provincial councils announced their defection from the “Taqaddum” party bloc, headed by Muhammad al-Halbousi, and the establishment of a political front called the “Initiative” bloc.
This came in a press conference held by MP Ziad Al-Janabi, in which he announced this in a statement read among the dissident MPs and members.
In the statement, the representatives and dissident members attributed the reason for their taking this step to “the state of stagnation that political life has reached, and the inability of the legislative authority to elect a new speaker of parliament for many months, which prompted us to establish the (Initiative) bloc to break the closure in the political scene.”
They added that “the bloc adopts the principle of standing at the same distance from all parties,” demanding the fulfillment of what was included in the political agreement paper, as a result of which the current Iraqi government was formed, headed by Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani.
It is noteworthy that the dissident MPs are:
Representative Ziad Al-Janabi
Representative Adnan Al-Juhaishi
Representative Gandhi Muhammad Al-Husseini Al-Kisanzani
Representative Karim Abu Souda
Representative Hamid Al-Karghouli
Representative Fahd Mishaan
Representative Basma Basim
Representative Yahya Al-Ithawi
Member of the Baghdad Council, Ammar Al-Hamdani
Member of the Baghdad Council, Ali Al-Ithawi
