Planning begins the second phase of the pilot census

Yesterday, Saturday, the Ministry of Planning and Development Cooperation began conducting the second phase of the experimental population census in Baghdad and the governorates.
The official spokesman for the ministry, Abdul Zahra Al-Hindawi, told Al-Sabah: The second stage of the census includes the visit of mobile teams to homes to obtain information from citizens and complete the information form in order to transfer it to the data center.
He added that the census form includes 70 various questions related to the characteristics of an individual’s life within the sectors of health, education, work, housing, and services, indicating that the goal of the census is to draw a road map that includes sound data and indicators for the success of development plans.
Al-Hindawi stated that the Ministry completed the activities of the first phase of the experimental census in all governorates, which began on May 31 until June 6, while the second phase began yesterday, Saturday, and ends on June 13, as the first phase included the process of packing, counting, and numbering. Buildings and filling out the census form with the participation of a number of field researchers, central supervisors and technicians.
He continued that the experimental census was launched in Baghdad Governorate by selecting six residential districts, which were divided into three districts in rural areas and the same in cities, attributing the selection of the Mahmoudiyah sector, which includes the Yusufiyah and Al-Rashid districts, to urban and population diversity.
He pointed out that the first stage witnessed a high technical flow, as the enumerators and researchers completed the procedures for filling out the electronic form on the tablet smoothly, including packing, inventorying, and numbering the buildings, praising the role of the officials, security forces, mukhtars, and mayors who responded and cooperated with the mobile teams of the Ministry of Planning.
Regarding the obstacles that accompanied the first stage, Al-Hindawi explained that they were represented by high temperatures, as a number of enumerators suffered from sunstroke and were subsequently transferred to the hospital, in addition to the wide spaces and the distance between the homes, in addition to the rugged rural areas, which led to some minor injuries to the Ministry’s employees.
