    Prime Minister Mr. Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani announces 3 future projects to develop the sports sector and enhance the status of Iraqi sports internationally

    Today, Thursday, the Prime Minister, Mr. Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, received a group of champion athletes who won various medals for Iraq in the West Asian Athletics Championships, which was recently hosted by Basra Governorate.
    His Excellency extended his congratulations to the attendees on the occasion of the Blessed Eid, expressing his appreciation and appreciation for the achievement that has been achieved for Iraqi sports and for all Iraqis, and contributes to raising the name of our country in international Olympic forums.
    During the meeting, Mr. Al-Sudani announced the launch of three foundational projects in the sports sector, which contribute to developing the sporting reality and raise the levels of Iraqi participation in international sports tournaments and competitions, and in the upcoming Olympics, as he launched the “Olympic Champion” project, which includes preparing players. Champions qualified to participate in the 2028 and 2032 Olympics, and planning to achieve the goal of obtaining Olympic medals. The second project is to support hosting (the West Asian Youth Olympics for Individual Games), which will confirm Iraq’s ability to host the tournaments and make them successful, and it serves as a clear message about the stability of the country. As for the third project It includes allocating a budget to the Olympic federations to complete infrastructure facilities within the investment plan, and will be included in the 2024-2025 budget tables.
    The following are the highlights of the Prime Minister’s speech when he received the sporting heroes:
    ? I congratulate you on this success and excellence that has pleased all Iraqis in (Bride of Games).
    ? It is happy to see that the number of female players equals the number of male players. It is a positive indicator.
    ? You achieved an achievement despite limited capabilities compared to other teams that used naturalized nationals in order to achieve victory.
    ?     Our champion athletes make up for any shortcomings with more perseverance and pure effort.
    ? Our understanding, as a government, of sports is not that it is a means of entertainment, but rather that it is one of the important aspects of the country, like politics, the economy, and other fields.
    ?     What an athlete performs in international forums is similar to what a diplomat, minister, and prime minister performs in international political arenas. The goal is to raise the name of Iraq.
    ? We affirm that the state’s support and role will be present in the field of sports, like other fields.
    ? Sports attract talent, and are part of building society and protecting it against risks.
    ?     Today, sport constitutes an economic investment and a tourism destination, and enables important opportunities to be achieved by hosting tournaments. Accordingly, we set the targets in the government program.
    ?     In our calculations and search for achievement, the interest in individual and other team games will be the same as interest in football, which is the primary popular game.
    ? Our duty is to provide support, and we hope that you will insist and persevere in achieving achievement.
