Electrical energy is considered one of the basics of life and the economy today, as all industries depend primarily on energy, which is considered the best way to spin the wheels of production to this day.
The electrical energy consumption index indicates the actual demand for energy from the current electricity supply available in the country.
According to the "World Population Review", growth in global electricity consumption is linked to economic growth and population growth, and increases in per capita electricity consumption reflect changes in the composition of the economy, such as increasing demand for appliances, lighting, and air conditioning. Shift to more energy-intensive industries, and changes in industrial processes for producing goods. The website published a ranking of the world’s electricity consumption for a number of years, the last of which was the year 2021. The following is a presentation of the Arab countries that consume the most electricity according to the classification data:
1- Egypt - 168.32 billion kilowatt-hours
Egypt's population is about 102 million people. According to current projections, Egypt's population is expected to double by 2078. The population is currently growing at a rate of 1.94%, a rate that adds about 2 million people to the population every year.
2- United Arab Emirates - 128.61 billion kilowatt-hours
After growing by more than 5 million people from 2000 to 2010, population growth in the UAE has slowed significantly. The population currently stands at 9.89 million.
3- Algeria - 68.66 billion kilowatt-hours
Algeria is currently growing at a steady pace. By 2049, Algeria's population is expected to exceed 60 million and continue to grow until the end of the century. Algeria's population is expected to reach 70.72 million by 2099.
4- Kuwait - 64.58 billion kilowatt-hours
Kuwait's annual population growth rate is currently 4.0% per year, although population growth has remained difficult to track and fluctuates often. If these trends continue, Kuwait's population is expected to reach 5.9 million by 2050.
5- Iraq - 52.15 billion kilowatt-hours
According to current projections, Iraq's population will continue to grow for the rest of the century, exceeding 100 million people by the end of 2085, and by the end of this century, Iraq's population is expected to reach 107.33 million people.
6- Qatar - 44.62 billion kilowatt-hours
From 2011 to 2012, Qatar witnessed an impressive growth rate of 7.5%, and there are no signs of slowing down.
7- Morocco - 35.39 billion kilowatt-hours
According to current projections, Morocco's population is expected to peak at 47.77 million in 2069. Over the past 50 years, Morocco's total population has increased by 180%, and has been rising on an annual basis for a decade.
8- Sultanate of Oman - 32.78 billion kilowatt-hours
Oman is currently experiencing the fastest population growth in at least fifty years and has one of the fastest population growth in the world with a growth rate of more than 9% per year. From 2012 to 2013 alone, Oman added more than 227,000 people. This growth is due to an increase in the birth rate and a decrease in the death rate, partly due to the improvement of the health care system.
9- Bahrain - 31.38 billion kilowatt-hours
The population of Bahrain is estimated at about 1,498,533 people, and the population increased significantly at the beginning of the year 2000, when the population was 711 thousand people, and the population increase continues until this moment.
10- Libya - 27.18 billion kilowatt-hours
Libya's population is expected to continue to grow at a slow pace until 2060, at which point the population will begin to shrink, and the population will continue to increase, but at a more gradual rate. Current expectations indicate that the population of Libya will reach 7,342,346 people in 2030, 7,825,251 people in 2040, and 8,123,669 people in 2050.
