    Information/Baghdad..
Today, Monday, the Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister, Peris Akinci, confirmed that there is a strategic agreement on the water file with Iraq, noting that his country attaches great importance to the framework agreement and activating it in the best possible way.
In a speech during the second meeting of the joint committee between Iraq and Turkey on water in Baghdad, Akinci said, "The Turkish Minister of Agriculture, the Minister of Energy, and the Minister of Irrigation and Forestry are paying great attention to the water resources file with the Iraqi side, especially after the meeting of the two presidents," indicating that "the Turkish side is interested in organizing these meetings between the two parties to reach the desired results."
He added that "26 agreements were signed, including the water agreement," noting that "signing the agreement between the two presidents is considered an important shift in water resources, in addition to the existence of a strategic agreement on the water resources file with coordination and the establishment of supporting institutions for that."
He continued, "We are working to ensure the continuity of these meetings in order to improve water resources in Iraq, because the presence of water is important for both countries," stressing, "We strive to improve water institutions in Iraq in order to better invest water within Iraqi territory."
He pointed out that "the Turkish government attaches great importance to the framework agreement, as we are working to activate it optimally," pointing out that "Turkey is determined to activate projects with Iraq, as our country has a long history in implementing projects of dams and irrigation canals and producing types of sprinklers."
He explained that "what the Iraqi minister talked about regarding the need for energy and reducing the flow of irrigation canals, it is possible to use solar energy methods," expressing "his country's readiness to provide information in this regard." End/25
