Shafaq News/ The head of the Federal Integrity Commission, Judge Haider Hanoun, confirmed on Thursday that any article that will be included in the general amnesty law and allow corrupt people to get rid of their cases with their money, we will challenge it in the Federal Court (the highest judicial authority in Iraq).
Hanoun said, during a press conference, in response to a question from Shafaq News Agency correspondent, regarding the existence of a movement to add an article to the general amnesty law that allows corrupt and accused persons to pay money in exchange for their release, that "any article included in any legislation that favors the corrupt, we will challenge it in the Federal Court."
Hanoun continued: "We do not accept that the corrupt escape with his money," indicating that "some of the corrupt stole years ago, and then used the stolen money in many investments."
He pointed out that "it is not fair to give a dose of life to the corrupt, and that whoever steals once will steal a thousand times," stressing that "exposing the thieves and holding them accountable is an integral part of the process of combating corruption."
Hanoun explained that "the accused Nour Zuhair is a defendant who is on bail and is free, practicing his work and enjoying his bail, and that the case is in the hands of the judiciary and the judiciary is aware of the money recovered from him."
While he explained that "the accused, Diaa Al-Moussawi, was sentenced in another case and that there is a lot of money in that case," noting that "the judiciary is supervising the case, and we only hand over the accused to the judiciary and we trust it."
