Housing Fund unveils loan plan to improve citizens’ lives

Granting loans by the Housing Fund is considered a vital step in enhancing economic and social stability, as these loans contribute to facilitating access to suitable housing for citizens.
The Housing Fund helps provide the necessary financing to build or purchase housing, which reduces the financial burden on individuals and families, and enhances social stability by improving living conditions.
These loans also support economic growth by stimulating the construction and real estate sector, which leads to creating new job opportunities and promoting sustainable development in the community.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Construction and Housing, Nabil Al-Saffar, said, “The Housing Fund’s plan for the current year included disbursing 900 billion dinars among 17,000 beneficiaries who applied for the Fund’s loans.”
Al-Saffar explained that “14,000 beneficiaries were loaned during the past months, and only 3,000 beneficiaries remain to be granted loans successively, and thus the fund has completed its plan for the current year.”
He added that “the resumption of issuing loans is dependent on the financial returns that come from citizens, in exchange for the loans they received, and that the electronic payment process contributed to the ease and speed of recovering the amounts,” indicating that “the fund has not yet set a date for issuing its next loans.”
Al-Saffar pointed out that “the Central Bank gave the Fund a period of 5 years to pay the amounts it owed under the initiative it launched earlier, to support it with an amount of 1 trillion and 250 billion dinars, which enabled it at the time to lend to a large number of citizens.”
For his part, economic affairs expert Hussein Ismail said, “Granting loans to citizens from the Housing Fund is a vital step in enhancing economic stability and stimulating development in Iraq.”
He added, "This type of loan can provide citizens with opportunities to improve their homes or buy new homes, which contributes to raising the standard of living and enhancing social stability."
Ismail added, “These loans can contribute to stimulating economic activity by increasing demand for construction materials and services related to the construction sector.”
The economic expert explained that, “On a broader level, by improving the living conditions of individuals, loans can help reduce social inequality and promote sustainable development in the country.”
