    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
The spokesman for the Ministry of Construction and Housing, Nabil Al-Saffar, confirmed today, Monday (September 9, 2024), that the roads and infrastructure services related to water and sewage stations inside the capital, Baghdad, are the responsibility of the Baghdad Municipality, and the outskirts are the responsibility of the governorate.
Al-Saffar said in an interview with Baghdad Today, "As for our ministry, it has been assigned projects to resolve traffic congestion, which is primarily the responsibility of the Secretariat, but due to the great need for them, the Secretariat cooperated in identifying these projects and starting them, and they will be handed over to them after they are fully completed."
He added, "All the projects we work on are carried out according to the approved specifications and laboratory tests are conducted on all the construction materials used in them," noting that, "We need more infrastructure services due to their deterioration in previous years and the lack of seriousness in their construction, in addition to the wars, crises and instability that the country has gone through."
Al-Saffar continued, "The current government came under the name of (the government of services) and it is serious about implementing these projects, and we will start other new projects related to the lives of citizens if the financial allocations for them are available."
Baghdad Governorate announced on Monday (September 2, 2024) that the capital’s entrance projects had reached advanced stages of completion, while revealing the commencement of the construction and development of more than 15 bridges and overpasses at the capital’s entrances, the launch of tree-planting campaigns, and the installation of a camera system.
The Director of Roads and Bridges in Baghdad Governorate, Abdullah Hussein, said in a statement followed by "Baghdad Today", that "the directorate has developed four projects for the entrances to the capital (Baghdad - Mosul, Baghdad - Hillah, Baghdad - Old Abu Ghraib, Baghdad - Old Baqubah), in addition to the project to develop the road linking Nahrawan and Kut, known as Road 10, which is in the referral phase and is very important, lighting, furnishing, beams and security cameras."
He added, "The directorate has the French Bridge project in Nahrawan, which is very important," noting that "the road will have two lanes and more than 6,000 trees will be planted on both sides of the road, in addition to a security camera system and a median strip."
He continued, "We have three overpasses in Abu Ghraib district on the expressway and two service roads with the expressway, and we are currently targeting the most important main entrances to the capital, Baghdad," noting that "Baghdad Governorate will begin in the coming days to construct and develop more than 15 bridges and overpasses at the entrances to Baghdad."
