    Information/Baghdad...
Addressing personal problems, granting flexibility in marriage contracts, providing options for husbands and wives, setting the age of marriage, and detailing inheritance are all matters that concern the Iraqi family and address tangible societal issues on the ground. Despite the great uproar that was raised about the proposal to amend the Personal Status Law, there is a conviction to proceed with this amendment within the House of Representatives, at a time when some parties have tried to exchange this amendment for the general amnesty law.

It seems that those who object to the amnesty are more than those who criticize the amendment of the Personal Status Law, as there is great fear of releasing terrorists from prisons, increasing crime rates, and the blood of innocents being wasted as a result of political desires intended to achieve electoral goals for some parties of the Sunni house that are trying to return to power again through the general amnesty law.
The House of Representatives concluded the second reading of controversial laws in one basket, the most important of which is the general amnesty law, which is the most prominent demand of the Sunni political forces, in addition to the personal status law, which Shiite politicians are adopting to amend.
Yazidi MP Sharif Suleiman told Al-Maalouma Agency, "We rejected the general amnesty law in honor of the Yazidi martyrs and victims of Iraq, the Speicher massacre and the genocide committed by the terrorist ISIS, as the Yazidi component was subjected to the most heinous crimes at the hands of ISIS terrorism, and many women were kidnapped, in addition to the mass graves committed by terrorism, and the number of victims and kidnapped reached more than 12 thousand."

He added, "There are more than 3,000 Yazidi women whose fate is still unknown, after they were kidnapped and sold in the slave market by the terrorist ISIS."
The Yazidi called on legal experts and language experts to "establish an accurate definition of criminals and those covered by this law, to ensure that no criminal escapes punishment."
On the other hand, the leader of the Coordination Framework, Issam Shaker, confirmed to / Al-Maalouma / that "the Coordination Framework will not compromise on a law that protects the Iraqi family in exchange for the release of terrorists, as the amnesty law in its current form infringes on the rights of tens of thousands of families of martyrs and victims of terrorism, and it will not be passed in this form."
He pointed out that "the amendments to the Personal Status Law aim to address complex problems in Iraqi society," criticizing "the interference of the US embassy in Iraq's internal affairs, as the people reject any dictates from Washington or others under the pretext of human rights, which is considered a pretext to justify societal chaos in the West and the spread of homosexuality sponsored by some governments."
Meanwhile, MP Jawad Al-Yassari explained that “submitting the general amnesty law sent by the government for a second reading does not mean passing the law as is, as there are parliamentary objections and reservations about it, especially since the law includes unclear legal formulations, and this could be exploited to release terrorists and corrupt individuals, and we have never accepted this and will never accept it.”
He pointed out that “the second reading will be followed by meetings by the relevant parliamentary committees to make amendments to the wording of the law sent, as it requires clear legal formulation and the absence of any loopholes that could be exploited, as the law needs more time to pass it in the House of Representatives.”

The House of Representatives began to redraft the draft general amnesty law, after the first reading of the law last August raised concerns that it would include corrupt individuals and those accused of terrorism due to its vague details for many representatives.
The law defines the crime of belonging to terrorist organizations as “anyone who worked in terrorist organizations, recruited members for them, committed criminal acts, or assisted in any way in carrying out a terrorist act, or was found in the records of terrorist organizations.”
The House of Representatives had completed its report and discussion of the draft law amending the second general amnesty law No. 27 of 2016 in its session last Monday. End 25N
