    Information technology expert Radi Abdul confirmed, today, Thursday (September 19, 2024), the ability of parties to launch cyber attacks on Tel Aviv.
    Abdul said in an interview with Baghdad Today, "All paid websites can be manipulated, hacked and even controlled, and most of them are designed by Western European or American companies and institutions," indicating that "for example, when an update is released for Android or iPhone devices or other programs, this indicates that they have discovered loopholes and are trying to close them through the update, and this is the essence of the update in the first place."
    He added, "There are experts who monitor these loopholes and through them websites are attacked for political purposes or others related to opposing certain ideas or decisions, and some with the aim of causing harm," stressing that "in Iraq there are youth energies in the cyber security file that are comparable to what exists in Europe despite the lack of capabilities."
    He pointed out that "launching attacks by Iraqi factions or any parties opposed to what is happening in Gaza or Lebanon against targets in Tel Aviv is not difficult in light of the existence of capabilities that cannot be underestimated," noting that "these capabilities can be invested by the state in building the foundations of cyber security in Iraq, which is still very weak."
    He continued: "The world is heading towards the digital space that will determine the fate of everything, and Iraq must race against time to build cyber security capable of protecting government and personal sites and securing public information," adding that "cyber attacks can cause chaos, especially with weak protection capabilities."
    Abdul pointed out that "the recent attacks, which are said to have come from Iraq against targets in Tel Aviv, are an indication of the existence of capabilities and competencies," stressing "the importance of the decision-making centers in the country realizing that cyber security is very important and that an environment must be provided to build a capable scientific base."
    Platforms close to the Iraqi factions announced today, Thursday (September 19, 2024), that a group of "Iraqi hackers" launched cyber attacks on Israeli websites, where they attacked the official website of the Tiberias Municipality and the Rehovot Municipality, in addition to the Tzur Hadassah Municipality website, the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, the Israeli Air Force website, and others.
