    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
Judge Haider Hanoun met today, Wednesday (October 16, 2024), with the advanced staff of the commission and urged the need to expedite the resolution of corruption cases.
The Integrity Commission said in a statement received by "Baghdad Today" that "Hanoun stressed the great effort exerted by the Commission's investigators and cooperation with the judicial authority, which is the umbrella under whose supervision they work."
She added that he "noted the campaign (Where did you get this from) and the importance of continuing the preventive, awareness and educational efforts of the Authority."
According to the statement, the Chairman of the Federal Integrity Commission stressed during the meeting he chaired at the Commission’s headquarters today, Wednesday, in the presence of its senior staff, the need to intensify investigative work and seek to resolve corruption cases in cooperation with the judiciary, urging the continuation of the Commission’s educational and awareness efforts.
He pointed out the importance of the Authority’s various departments undertaking their various tasks, whether investigative, deterrent, preventive, or educational awareness-raising, and their contribution to adopting transparency in managing governance affairs at all levels, indicating that the legislator deliberately stipulated this in the Authority and Illicit Gains Law No. (30 of 2011) as amended; in order to adopt a comprehensive vision to confront corruption in the areas of prevention, combating, and awareness.
Hanoun stressed the ongoing cooperation between the Commission and the three authorities to combat corruption and prosecute its perpetrators, noting the role of the judiciary in coordinating and cooperating with the Commission and describing it as the umbrella under which the Commission’s investigators work and under the supervision of the investigating judges specialized in examining integrity cases, noting the need to resolve cases and instruct investigators to exert sufficient effort in their investigative work and present the emerging evidence that enables the judiciary to issue appropriate decisions regarding them.
Judge Hanoun touched on the illicit gains file and the Authority’s achievements in the past two years within the “Where Did You Get This” campaign, urging the intensification of investigations into taxpayers’ funds and uncovering any illicit increase that is not commensurate with their regular resources, pointing to the role played by awareness campaigns to enhance ethical behavior and develop a culture of integrity in the public and private sectors and among society.
