The Prime Minister's Financial Advisor, Mazhar Mohammed Salih, recommended on Monday the need to reorganize the flow of transportation and movement methods based on three main criteria.
Salih explained that Iraq, which faced problems in the availability of transportation before the current economic boom, has witnessed an increase in the availability of wheels, as it has become common for one family to own more than one car.
He also pointed to the diversity of types and global sources at prices that suit the Iraqi middle class, which exceeds the average per capita income in the gross domestic product.
He added that the change in lifestyle and the rise in the standard of living require huge investments in infrastructure, including roads, bridges and parking lots, in addition to providing maintenance workshops, spare parts and fuel stations. He stressed that these costs must be taken into account to ensure appropriate economic returns. He
also called for a comprehensive re-evaluation of the flow of transportation and movement methods, based on three criteria: the history of wheel manufacturing, technological progress, and the importance of mass transportation compared to individual transportation.
