Electricity and Baghdad Municipality: Projects to address energy problems and drain rainwater

In preparation for the winter, the Ministry of Electricity has prepared a plan to address energy
and network issues, with the launch of a campaign to follow up on distribution departments, while the Baghdad Municipality has implemented 40 various projects related to sewage to control overflows and drain rainwater. The official spokesman for the Ministry of Electricity, Ahmed Musa, told Al-Sabah: The ministry is about to launch a plan to address energy and network issues, which includes a campaign to follow up on the work of distribution departments and prepare comprehensive lists of the sectors that feed them, in addition to knowing the percentages of consumers from them, stressing the readiness of its technical staff through its national capabilities to confront any crises that the electrical system goes through.
He explained that the ministry has begun its early preparations for the winter season by providing appropriate energies for all governorates on a regular basis, away from violations, noting that there are ongoing campaigns to remove violations to ensure the stability and continuity of the service, indicating that the low voltage in some areas will be addressed through an emergency plan to rehabilitate the distribution networks.
In the same context, the Director of the Sewerage Department in the Baghdad Municipality, Mahmoud Aziz Al-Sudani, told Al-Sabah: The department, in coordination with the sewage departments in 14 municipal departments, implemented early precautionary measures to control the expected rainfall during the winter season by maintaining and maintaining the main transmission lines by cleaning and removing sediments, in addition to treating the damaged parts and removing the violations that occurred on them.
He pointed out that 40 various projects were recently implemented in preparation for draining rainwater and sewage overflows, which included the establishment of push and emergency lines, in addition to replacing and maintaining the main and joint lines distributed on both sides of Karkh and Rusafa.
Al-Sudani explained that the department also completed maintenance, maintenance and replacement work for about 125 pumps, including vertical and submersible pumps distributed among 17 projects and stations in various areas of the capital.
He added that the controlling and submersible stations have been prepared and provided with operational alternatives by providing special generators that operate with the same efficiency to draw water, in addition to carrying out maintenance, replacement and maintenance work for more than 50 generators that will be prepared for the rainy season and preparing the necessary quantities of fuel to ensure their operation for the longest possible period in order to draw water as quickly as possible.
