    [rtl]Iraq ranked fifth among Arab countries exporting naphtha during the nine months of this year, according to data from the Energy Research Unit (based in Washington).[/rtl]
    [rtl]The Energy Data Unit stated in a report that "the average exports of naphtha from Arab countries rose to 1.59 million barrels per day during the period from January to the end of September 2024, compared to 1.41 million barrels per day during the same period last year."[/rtl]
    [rtl]She added, "Iraq recorded a significant jump in average naphtha exports during the first 9 months of 2024 to 179,000 barrels per day, compared to 79.66 thousand in the corresponding period of 2023, to come in fifth place on the list of the largest Arab countries exporting naphtha."[/rtl]
    [rtl]She pointed out that "Iraq's average naphtha exports rose during the first quarter of this year to 175.62 thousand barrels per day, compared to 76.15 thousand barrels per day in the same quarter last year."[/rtl]
    [rtl]The unit pointed out that "exports continued to rise in the second quarter of 2024 to an average of 214.4 thousand barrels per day, compared to 69.74 thousand barrels per day in the corresponding period of 2023, before reaching 146.7 thousand barrels per day in the third quarter."[/rtl]
    [rtl]The unit's report indicated that "the UAE topped the list of the largest Arab countries exporting naphtha, and it also ranked first globally, during the first 9 months of 2024, followed by Qatar, Kuwait and Algeria."[/rtl]
    [rtl]Naphtha is an intermediate petroleum product obtained in an oil refinery.[/rtl]
    [rtl]Naphtha is divided into two types: light naphtha and heavy naphtha. It is used primarily in the production of gasoline for cars and is also used in the chemical industry such as the preparation of ethylene and propylene. These products are used in the manufacture of plastics such as polyethylene and polypropylene.[/rtl]
