He warned Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari, on Thursday, that the continuation of the conflict in Syria would worsen the Syrian refugee crisis, while noting that Iraq is home to more than a quarter of a million Syrian refugees.

Jaafari said during his speech before the donor conference for Syria, held in London, "The continuation of the conflict in Syria generates more killing of innocent people and increases the suffering of the refugees," stressing that "a political solution is the best and most appropriate to end the Syrian crisis."
He said al-Jaafari, that "Iraq embrace, today, more than 250,000 Syrian refugees," adding that "Iraq has provided for those displaced and humanitarian aid donated millions of dollars to them during international conferences."

The British capital hosted earlier in the day Thursday, the international conference for donors to Syria.
