    Announced the Regional Director for Malaysia's Petronas in Iraq, Abdul Malik Jaafar, a plan to raise production Garraf oil field from 100,000 barrels per day to 120,000 barrels during the next year, while noting coordination with the Ministry of Oil and the South Oil Company in this regard, he confirmed receipt of the company's list of service projects drawn up by the local government to implement them in the vicinity of the Garraf field areas.
     The Regional Director said Petronas Abdul Malik Jaafar said in an interview to the (long-Presse), "The current production rate of Garraf oil field (80 km north of Nasiriyah) which is run by Petronas of 100,000 barrels per day, and negotiations are ongoing with the South Oil Company to raise output to 120 thousand barrels per day during 2017 ".
    Jaafar added that "The oil ministry has confirmed its willingness to raise production in the Garraf oil field, and Petronas will work with the ministry and local businesses to raise output within the ceiling is required," noting that "Petronas has received from the local government in Dhi Qar list of service projects for implementation in the areas adjacent to the field and villages Garraf oil money into social benefits amounting to five million dollars annually. "

    The two companies Petronas and Japex of Japan signed in (the 19 of January 2010), a contract with the Oil Ministry to develop the Garraf field in the province of Dhi Qar includes the drilling of 240 wells by 2017, which will allow to raise oil production from Garraf fields ceiling to reach 230 thousand barrels per day in 2017.
     The Dhi Qar management, predicted in (February 8, 2016), natural gas production from Garraf oil field, north of the province (350 km south of Baghdad), during the current year, indicating that the production of natural gas from the oil fields cover the local need and enhances the resources and protects environmental pollution risks arising from the extraction of oil associated with the combustion of gas.
    The estimated oil reserves in Dhi Qar more than 20 billion barrels spread over the Garraf, Nasiriyah and Abu column fields and field poured oil fields, while total current production from the fields of Garraf, Nasiriyah, about 170 thousand barrels per day.
     The Cabinet has formally approved in (the fifth of January 2016), the founding of Dhi Qar Oil Company. The date of the oil production in Dhi Qar to 2007 where he has direct first phase of the development of Nasiriyah oil field in the beginning of that year, an initial production capacity is estimated at 12 thousand barrels per day.
