A coalition of state law, led by Nuri al-Maliki, said the US embassy will "try" to intervene in the Iraqi parliamentary elections scheduled for 12 May by sending six advisers on the pretext of assisting the Electoral Commission.
"The smell of American interventions in the elections began to fade from now through the statement issued by the US Embassy, which began to pave the ground to manipulate the results in accordance with the policies and interests," said the MP for the coalition emotions Emamah in an interview with Twilight News, Its claim - the embassy - that it will send six advisers to help the Electoral Commission is only a prelude to interference and manipulation of the results. "
"If the Iraqi government is serious about maintaining the integrity of the elections, it must declare its explicit rejection of any outside interference in the work of the Commission," she said.
Washington announced its "strong support" for the Iraqi elections in May 2018, warning that the postponement would set a dangerous precedent, undermine the constitution and harm the long-term democratic development of Iraq.
"The United States is providing assistance that helps ensure that all Iraqi voices are heard and taken into account, including some 2.6 million Iraqis who are still displaced from their homes in liberated areas," a statement from the US embassy said.
He added that the US Agency for International Development will contribute to training local civil society groups to monitor the elections and to provide IHEC with six international electoral experts who will assist UNHCR in strengthening its electoral systems, staff and operations in the following ways:
    • Enable IDPs to vote by focusing on voter registration and ensuring the effectiveness of electronic voting systems.
    • Improve electoral administrative capacity at the governorate level to support the voting process in newly liberated areas.
    · Assist the new Board of Commissioners of the Independent Electoral Commission to develop a sound operational plan for the May 2018 elections.
Support for Iraq's democratic institutions is an essential part of the United States' continued commitment to a democratic, prosperous and united federal Iraq, the statement said. By exercising their constitutional right to vote, Iraqis will demonstrate their commitment to governance through peaceful processes rather than violence.
