The euro rose on Monday, while the dollar fell, as stock markets recovered to halt the strong bullishness of the US currency.
Some risk appetite returned to the currency markets after last week's drop, helping emerging high-yielding currencies and currencies linked to commodities such as the Australian and Canadian dollars, but gains were limited.
The dollar was down 0.2 percent against a basket of currencies to erase part of last week's gains, with the greenback posting the best weekly performance since 2016.
The euro rose 0.2 percent to $ 1.2275, having earlier hit a session high of $ 1.2298. The euro hit its worst weekly performance since November 2016 last week.
Against the yen, the dollar fell but settled above a five-month low.
The dollar fell 0.1 percent to 108.69 yen, remaining above its low of 108.05 yen on Friday, its lowest since September 11. The dollar fell last week around 1.3 percent against the yen.
