"One vessel will operate on this service in the first phase with a capacity of one thousand and 15 containers, 110 refrigerated containers, and the sailing period will be only two days," she said.
"The new line will be suitable for transporting dry and chilled food, electronics, building materials and other goods, " she said.
"The route will be from the port of Hamad, to the port of Umm Qasr in Iraq, then the port of Shuwaikh in Kuwait, and then return to Hamad port," the ministry said in a statement .
This step comes within the framework of the efforts of the State of Qatar to overcome the effects of the economic embargo imposed by its neighbors .
A Qatari source told Al-Iktissad News that "the direct container transport service between Qatar and Iraq represents an expansion of the Qatar-Kuwait line. The new service will start from Hamad port to Umm Qasr port (Iraq), then Shuwaikh port (Kuwait) .
"The capacity of the on-line vessel is 1,015 TEUs and 110 refrigerated containers, and the sailing period will be only two days, making it particularly suitable for dry and refrigerated food, electronics, building materials and other goods."

These countries imposed economic sanctions, including the closure of their airspace to Qatari air and sea and land borders, causing the closure of important import ports for Qatar, with a population of about 2.7 million, who rely mainly on imports to meet most of their food needs.
