Israel's Minister of Intelligence and Communications, Yisrael Katz, said he welcomed "the initiative of US President Donald Trump to settle Palestinian refugees in Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Iraq."
"I welcome the initiative of US President Trump to settle the Palestinian refugees in Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Iraq," Israel wrote in a tweet at its official account in social networking sites "Twitter" late on Tuesday.
The Minister of Intelligence and Communications, Yisrael Katz, did not clarify when the US president would put this initiative and whether he had put it on Israel.
The US administration has not issued a "public" initiative to settle Palestinian refugees, but earlier this month decided to stop the funding of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
US newspapers also spoke about the existence of official American tendencies to settle the issue of Palestinian refugees.
"The continuation of the refugee problem, caused by Arab and Palestinian leaders, is a lever for the unjust demand for the right of return, an attempt to destroy Israel, and it is good to disappear from the world," said Katz, a member of the Israeli Cabinet for Security and Political Affairs.
Palestinian estimates indicate that there are 5.9 million Palestinian refugees in the world, most of whom are concentrated in the West Bank, Gaza Strip, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Iraq.
The Palestinians insist that the solution of the Palestinian refugee issue must be based on the Arab peace initiative, which stipulates a just and agreed solution to the Palestinian refugee issue based on UN Resolution 194.
Over the past decades, Arab countries have rejected the principle of settling refugees.
