Oil prices fell to their lowest level in more than a year on Friday and are headed for the biggest one-month drop since late 2014, while crude producers are considering cutting output in an effort to curb a growing surplus in world supply.
Oil supplies, led by US producers, are growing at a faster pace than demand and to avoid an increase in unused fuel stocks, as in 2015, and the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries is expected to begin cutting production after a planned meeting on December 6.
Brent crude futures fell more than $ 3 to $ 59.26 a barrel at their lowest level in the session, before recovering slightly to $ 59.80 by 1416 GMT.
US crude fell more than $ 4 to $ 50.60 a barrel at a session low before climbing slightly to $ 51.19.
