The US Congress delayed deliberations on a short-term spending bill that would block the closure of dozens of federal administrations, which means that the closure of these departments is inevitable.

The "closure", which began at midnight on Friday, was caused by the row between the White House and Congress over the border wall with Mexico .

To prevent "closure", the House and Senate were supposed to reach an agreement with the White House before midnight to raise the federal budget ceiling.

But the negotiations, which lasted until the last minute, failed because Democratic lawmakers refused to agree to finance the construction of the border wall, which President Donald Trump wants to build to stop illegal immigration to the United States from the south.

Because dozens of federal departments have reached their budget ceiling and a bill to lift this ceiling has not been passed, these departments will not be able to open their doors on Saturday, and their staff, hundreds of thousands, will have to take unpaid leave.

The Democrats agreed to raise the federal budget ceiling for a short time, but Trump originally required the signing of any bill approved by Congress to include $ 5 billion earmarked for the construction of the border wall, before returning to the position of President Willine signal the bill to a large amount for border security.

On Thursday, Trump announced that he would not sign a bill proposed by his Republican allies in Congress to fund federal administrations until February 8 because the text did not include enough funds to ensure border security.

It was not clear how long the closure would last, but the indications seemed unsatisfactory Friday, signaling that Americans may spend Christmas and New Year holidays without major government services.
